Although we say we specialize in outdoor family photography, we do have a completely furnished, high functioning indoor studio. Again, our style is one that we want to make sure it is unique to your family. Although you are more limited in the studio, we have a lot of creativity that transforms the studio shots of the past (and some today) into special timepieces for every family we work with indoors.

We provide our clients with a tip sheet covering many aspects of the portrait that will help ensure success and provide your family with a true keepsake. For clothing, we recommend that you stay at least in the same hue. You do not have to dress like twins (you can) but staying close takes the attention away from the clothes and puts it back to your family. Long sleeves and long pants are always recommended. This sample illustrates two flaws that detract. The gentlemen, second from the right, has the wrong shirt on and the man in the middle has short sleeves. Our tip sheet helps you avoid these mistakes.

Sometimes, our clients have their own ideas of what they are looking for and want. The portrait here came from a client who wanted to showcase sisters together and have it converted into a watercolor painting. I suggested this location with a small walkway along side the San Gabriel River. I felt using the symbolism of the big sister looking back, holding her little sisters hand, providing direction and leadership for her, would capture their relationship at this point in their lives. I later converted it into a watercolor painting on the computer. It will be a classic for generations to come.

The only rule in photography that you really need to know is there really are no rules. Does everyone have to be staring at the camera? Not really. There are some compostion and lighting directions you really should follow for optimum results, but after that, its all in the imagination of the photographer and you. We always like to push the envelope stylistically when we can. We are always open to your input on what you think you would like. A lot of times, we can take that input to the next level and create something for you that goes well past what you had in mind. The key is to showcase the family as a family. Everything else is secondary to that objective.
